BIOGRAPHY

Szymon Raczkowski is a Polish baritone and a graduate of the Academy of Music in Łódź,
where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s studies under the guidance of Prof.
Piotr Miciński. He previously studied at the National Music School of I and II Degree in
Opole in the class of Rafał Żurakowski.


From 2021 to 2025, he was a member of the Opera Academy Young Talents Development
Programme at the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, where he appeared in
numerous productions. His collaborations with the National Opera include roles such as the
Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly by Puccini, Morales in Carmen by Bizet, Piotr
Kmita in Barbara Radziwiłłówna by Jarecki, and Johann in Werther by Massenet.


In the 2024/2025 season, he made his debut as Marcello in La bohème at the Grand Theatre
in Łódź — his first major leading baritone role on a professional stage.


Raczkowski has also performed at major Polish opera houses and festivals, including the
Wrocław Opera, Kraków Opera, and the Baltic Opera Festival in Gdańsk, where he appeared
as Charlie in Szymanowski’s Lottery for Husbands and as Dancaïre in Bizet’s Carmen.


Alongside his operatic activity, he regularly performs symphonic repertoire, appearing in
numerous philharmonic halls across Poland. His concert appearances include Beethoven’s
Symphony No. 9, Mozart’s Requiem and Krönungsmesse, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Brahms’
Ein deutsches Requiem, and Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater, performed in Poland, the
Netherlands, and Finland.


He has participated in numerous international masterclasses and artistic programmes,
including the Lotte Lehmann Sommer Akademie in Germany and the Opernschultreffen in
Stuttgart.


Raczkowski is a prizewinner of many national and international vocal competitions. His
distinctions include 1st Prize at the Romuald Tesarowicz National Vocal Competition, 1st
Prize at the Monika Swarowska-Walawska International Competition, multiple special
awards at the Bogdan Paprocki Competition, and two special prizes at the XXI Ada Sari
International Vocal Artistry Competition in 2025.


Szymon Raczkowski represents a new generation of Polish baritones, combining solid vocal
technique, stage presence, and growing experience on the most important operatic stages in
Poland.
