Israeli – Portuguese mezzo, Maya Gour, began her musical career as a jazz singer performing in festivals and clubs in NYC and around the world.

In the 2023-24 season Maya will join Oper Köln as an ensemble member where she will sing roles such as Dorabella, Siebel, Hänsel and Ottavia. In addition Maya will join Jaap van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic as Mary in “Der fliegende Holländer” and will star as Angelina in “La Cenerentola“ feature film set in modern-day Rome, by the acclaimed  director Damiano Michieletto.

In Fall 2024 Maya will debut her first Verdi role as Maddalena in Rigoletto at the Dutch National opera and will make her debut at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo as Muriel in Alexander Rastakov’s opera Animal Farm.

After graduating from Mannes school of music in NYC, Maya was immediately engaged for two productions with the Seattle Opera and thereafter joined the prestigious Dutch National Opera studio for the 2020-23 seasons. In Amsterdam she sang many mainstage roles such as Smeton in Anna Bolena, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Ein Page in Salome, the Sorceress in Dido, Flora in La Traviata, Sesto in Giulio Cesare and more. During this period Maya also won the Rising Star award at the Hans Gabor Belvedere singing Competition 2022 and was a grand finalist at the Vinas Competition. In the summer of 2023, Maya gave her first solo recital at the Corinthian Sommers Festival in Austria, featuring music by Berlioz, Rossini and Kurt Weil.
