Danylo Matviienko







Born in Novy Svit, Ukraine, in 1990, baritone Danylo Matviienko completed his Bachelor studies at the Donetsk state music academy under prof. Piotr Onchul and MA studies at the National music academy of Ukraine under prof. Alexander Diachenko.

Danylo is a member of the ensemble at the Oper Frankfurt. In the season 2020/21 he performed in Křenek's Schwergewicht, Fauré's nélope, Don Carlo, and new productions of Rossini's La gazzetta and Salome. In the Season 2021/22 he sang here 2nd Nazarene / Cappadozier in Barrie Kosky's production of Salome, Guglielmo in Loy's prize-winning production of Così fan tutte, the One-Eyed Brother in the production of Die Frau ohne Schatten and Demetrius and Antinoos in new productions of Britten's A Midsummer Nights Dream and Dallapiccola's Ulisse. In the current season 2022/23 Danylo will perform here the roles of Papageno and Astrologist in new productions of Die Zauberflöte and Britten’s The Burning Fiery Furnace. 

This season 2022/23 he has sung the role of Dottore Malatesta in a new production of Don Pasquale at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. Danylo will also perform the role of Brother Léon in a production of Messiaen’s Saint François d’Assise at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

At the Opera studio of the Oper Frankfurt Danylo was working with Eytan Pessen, Neil Shicoff. He was also a member of the Akademia Operowa of the Polish National Theater in Warsaw (2017, studied with Eytan Pessen and Matthias Rexroth) and LAcadémie de Opéra National de Paris (2017-2019). In Paris, he appeared in Boesman's Reigen, the Kurt Weill Story, as Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus, the Hunter in Rusalka and Junius in The Rape of Lucretia.

Roles at the National Music Academy of Ukraine, National Operetta Theatre in Kyiv and Kyiv Opera include Graf Danilo (Die lustige Witwe), Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Rossini's Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Macrobio (Pietra del paragone), Germano (La scala di seta) as well as Donizetti's Gasparo (Rita)

Danylo’s concert appearances include Bachs Magnificat and cantatas at the Donbas Opera, Handels Messiah with the Kyiv symphony orchestra and choir and at the Johanneskirche in Giessen, Duruflé Requiem with the Kyiv chamber choir "Sofia", Sviridov's Piesni bezvremenia with the choir of the National music academy of Ukraine. 

Danylo Matviienko is a winner of the second prize in the Antonina Campi international voice competition in Lublin and the Ada Sari competition in Nowy Sacz. He is also a Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.  

Danylo has a master degree in mathematics from the Donetsk National University.
