BIOGRAPHY

Alexander Marev is a Polish-Bulgarian tenor, born in 2000. He began his vocal training at a very young age with the Bulgarian tenor Kaludi Kaludov. Later he was admitted to the vocal department of the renowned Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel to study with Jose van Dam. Parallel to this training in Belgium, Alexander Marev graduated from the vocal department of the Elsner Music School in Warsaw. He also studied at the Royal Brussels Conservatory in the class of Valerie Guillorit.

Alexander has won numerous national singing competitions in his native Poland and has taken part in many masterclasses. For the 2021/22 season he was a member of the MM Academy, the young talent programme of the Opera La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels.

Projects for the 2023/24 season include Flavio/NORMA in Athens, Rivers/ALFREDO IL GRANDE at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, Lovec/RUSALKA and Cajus/FALSTAFF in Liège and his debut as Pang/TURANDOT at the Theatre La Monnaie in Brussels.

In the last season 2022/23 he sang Albazar/IL TURCO IN ITALIA, Ovando/ALZIRA, Duc de Tulipatan/L'ILE DE TULIPATAN by Jacques Offenbach, Poisoon/ADRIANA LECOUVREUR at the Royal Opera of Wallonia in Liège and Garter - Officier/ HENRY VIII by Sant-Saens at the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels.

Alexander's other recent successes include his stage debut as Matteo Borsa in Verdi's RIGOLETTO at the Royal Opera House of Wallonia in Liège and the role of the Knappe in concert performances of Richard Wagner's PARSIFAL at La Monnaie/De Munt under the musical direction of Alain Altinoglu.  He gave a Christmas concert at the Royal Palace in Brussels, which was broadcast on Belgian television.
